Issue the following sequence of AT commands:

Once the modem is configured, connect it to the Passport 4400 management
port (refer to
“Management Port Modem Connection” on page 30

The Passport should now be ready to receive calls.
Testing the Modem Configuration
You can test the modem configuration by using a terminal emulation program
(such as HyperTerminal or ProComm) to call the modem connected to the
Passport 4400. You will see the CLI prompt when you successfully connect.
In Case of Difficulty
Your modem baud rate must match that of the Passport 4400 management port. If
your modem is set to something other than 9600 baud, and you subsequently reset
the Passport 4400 to its factory defaults, your modem connection will fail. In this
case, you need to reset the modem to 9600 baud by unlocking the speed (AT&B0),
AT Command
Description
AT&F
Set the modem to start with factory defaults. Refer to your modem
documentation to determine the required format for this command.
ATS0=1
Set the modem to answer on the first ring.
ATE0
Disable command echo/local echo.
ATQ1
Do not return result codes.
AT&B1
Lock the serial port rate to the current baud rate (this is the rate
you set in step 3 above).
AT&D
Ignore DTR (always on).
AT&W
Write the current settings to NVRAM (nonvolatile RAM). This
retains the configuration through power cycles.
Note:
If your modem doesn't support the Hayes AT commands, consult
your modem documentation for the procedure for your particular modem.
