How Wizard Mode Works
Each of the wizards follows this sequence of tasks:
Tasks:
1. Upon starting, the wizard gathers configuration values from the unit.
(For additional information, see
“Starting a Wizard” on page 64
.)
The wizard examines the unit, collects the current configuration values, then displays
the first in a sequence of dialog panels. There is one group of dialog panels for each
service, port, or feature that you can configure.
2. The wizard presents a sequence of dialog panels, through which you provide the
necessary configuration data.
(For additional information, see
“Specifying Configuration Values” on page 67
.)
You can click the Help button from any dialog panel to display detailed information
about the parameters on that panel.
3. When you click the Next button, the wizard advances to the next dialog panel in the
sequence.
(For additional information, see
“Navigating Within a Wizard” on page 67
.)
4. The wizard gives you the opportunity to reset the unit and save your configuration data
before advancing from one group of dialog panels to the next group in the sequence.
(For additional information, see
“Resetting the Passport 4400” on page 72
.)
5. Following a reset, the wizard runs a diagnostic test on the selected port. This gives
you the opportunity to verify that you can access the port before continuing on to the
next sequence of dialog panels.
(For additional information, see
“Verifying the Configuration Values” on page 73
.)
6. Once you have provided all necessary data for all of the ports on the Passport 4400
unit, the wizard presents a Save & Activate panel. This is the final dialog panel that
appears during the wizard session.
Normally, you will click Save & Activate to ensure that your configuration values are
written to Flash memory and to apply all of your configuration settings.
(For additional information, see
“Saving and Activating Your New Configuration” on
page 73
.)
7. The wizard exits at the conclusion of the Save & Activate operation.
