Note1:
Operating Status
Handshake, when local transceiver tries to reach the far-end transceiver.
Training, indicates the startup training is in progress.
Data, if successfully trained.
Note2:
Loop Attenuation
The difference in decibels (dB) between the power received at the near-end
and the power transmitted from the far-end.
Changing the startup SNR margin
You can configure the target SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) margin for the local line
condition during the startup sequence. If the actual SNR margin is less than the
configured target SNR margin, during training, the line attempts to retrain. The default
startup SNR margin is 6dB.
To configure the startup SNR margin, use the following command :
COMMAND
(conf)# gshdslset margin <dB value[0..15]> <ifname>
Usage Examples:
(conf)# gs margin 3 s0
Note1:
If you change the startup SNR margin after the line has been trained, drop the line and
attempt to retrain. Because your change is not applied to the actual line until the line
will retrain.
Note2:
In rate adaptive mode the target margin determines the amount of margin required
before the line will train. If the line cannot achieve the target margin it will attempt to
train at a lower rate. The line will continue to lower the rate until it finds a line rate that
will support the target margin.
