If you change the wire mode, you should reboot your system. The unit may be run the
changed configuration incorrectly.
Fixd rate mode and Rate adaptive mode
The SHDSL port supports two types of training rate (fixed and adaptive).
But the CPE type supports only the rate adaptive mode.
- In fixed training mode, no rates are negotiated. The line rate selected is the line rate to
which the port attempts to train. If the port is unable to attain that line rate, it does not
train.
- In adaptive training mode, the rate is negotiated during training. If the line cannot train
at the selected rate, the line trains at the next best rate. The line rate is negotiated the
highest achievable data rate given the loop conditions.
This mode automatically trains
for an optimal line rate by negotiating with the far-end equipment.
Line rate
The SHDSL port supports multiple line rate and rate-adaptive capability.
2-wire mode supports speeds from 200 kbps to 2320 kbps in increments of 64 kbps (or
72 kbps).
4-wire mode supports speeds from 384kbps to 4608 kbps in increments of 128 kbps.
Only fixed rate is supported in 4-wire mode. And only the s0 port is configured in 4-
wire mode.
Configuring the SHDSL port
To control the physical SHDSL port, use the following commands:
COMMAND
(conf)# device <ifname> gshdsl co [auto|4wire] <kbps>
(conf)# device <ifname> gshdsl rt [4wire]
