POST Error Messages (cont’d)
MESSAGE
WHAT TO DO
System battery is dead -
Replace and run
Setup
The CMOS clock battery indicator shows that the
CMOS battery is dead. Call your authorized service
representative to have the battery replaced.
System Cache error -
Cache disabled RAM
RAM cache failed the BIOS test and disabled the
cache. Call your authorized service representative.
System RAM failed at
offset:
nnnn
System RAM failed at offset
nnnn of the 64KB block
where the error was detected. Call your authorized
service representative
System timer error
The timer test failed. The system board may need
repair. Call your authorized service representative.
IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE

Services,” for details about contacting NECCSD.
NOTE
If you purchased your computer outside of the
U.S. or Canada, please contact the local NEC office
or their dealers for the support and service available
in your country.
UPDATING THE SYSTEM BIOS
If you receive a BIOS Update diskette from NECCSD,
simply insert the diskette in the drive and then cold boot
your system. Follow the on-screen instructions.
When the BIOS update finishes, the system powers down
automatically. Remove the diskette from the drive and re-
start your system.
