5.4  Connection of an Ethernet Cable 

To enable configuration changes and fault monitoring for the disk array unit using the NEC Storage 
Manager management software and the Ethernet, the Ethernet cable must be connected. 

 

(1)  Installation of the Ethernet cable 

Connect the available optionally Ethernet cable to the Ethernet connector (modular jack). 

Connect the host system on which the NEC Storage Manager management software is installed to 
Ethernet. 

Notes regarding LAN cables for use with NEC Storage Manager and the maintenance PC 

•

 

Use a straight-through Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cable, if the controller and PC are connected 
through a hub. 

•

 

Use a crossover STP cable, if the controller and PC are connected directly. 

 

 

Connecting the Ethernet cable to the controller is just the first step in using NEC 
Storage Manager software across an Ethernet. Contact your service engineer    or an 
NEC trained service representative    If you need assistance in configuring your 
storage array.
