8.12 Preparations before Contacting technical Support
When you have any question or need to contact us regarding the occurrence of a fault or error on the
unit, please make the following preparations before calling us:

Write down the failure or fault status and questions.
„ Write down the configuration of the peripherals connected to the host unit and the software
products used in the disk array unit.
„ Keep this manual, the manuals on the peripherals connected to the host unit, and the manuals of
used software products nearby for easy reference.
8.13 Service and Support
If you have any questions on this product, contact your service representative.
8.14 Unit Life/Repair Service Period
The service life of the disk array unit and the repair service period after production ends are as shown
below.
Some components (e.g., cooling fans and battery backup units) of the disk array unit may have a
shorter life than the unit as a whole. The service life of the disk array unit may become shorter than 5
years depending on the operating environment. Therefore, the components should be replaced
periodically. For their replacement , contact your maintenance service representative.

Service life of the disk array unit: 5 years (*1)
„ Repair service period: 5 years after production ends
Note that the following disk array units may not be repaired:
„
Units stained, damaged due to dropping, incorrect handling, etc.
„ Units modified by the customer
„ Units which have reached the end of their useful life
„ Units damaged by a natural disaster (e.g., earthquake, lightning, or fire) or by an external factor
(e.g., incident)
*1 Tocontinue using a disk array unit that has reached its service life, be sure to purchase a hardware
maintenance contract, and have the disk array unit overhauled (at an additional cost). Overhauling
of the unit is available only once.
8.15 Disposal of Disk Array Unit
The disk array unit uses lead batteries. You should dispose of the batteries in accordance with the
regulations and rules of your local government. Contact your local government for details.
The controllers contain lithium batteries. You are to dispose of the lithium batteries as required by
local regulations. Ask your NEC sales representative or maintenance service representative for details.
