8.9  Replacement of Power Supply for Disk Enclosure 

If a power supply for the disk enclosure becomes defective, the SERVICE LED on the array controller 
lights orange. In addition, the SERVICE LED on the FC/SATA disk enclosure in which the defective 
power supply is installed and the POWER FAULT LED on the defective power supply are lit orange. 

The defective power supply for the disk enclosure may be replaced with the powers of the array 
controller and FC/SATA disk enclosure remaining ON. 

 

When replacing a power supply for the disk enclosure, prepare the new power supply 
before removing the old one, and then replace it within about 3 minutes. 

The following units of the FC disk enclosure generate heat while operating: 

A) Disk drives 

B)  Power supplies for the disk enclosure 

The fans in the power supplies for the disk enclosure serve as cooling fans for both of 
the above. Therefore, do not leave the disk enclosure with one of the power supplies 
removed. Doing so causes the disk drive temperature to rise, which may significantly 
decrease their reliability and increase the risk of data loss
