While Coldloading a New Software Image

Troubleshooting

This table lists some of the potential problems you may encounter during the
coldload procedure:

Problem

Cause

What to do...

At the end of the loading,
the node outputs the
message, “ V320 - wrong
cloader was loaded.”

Your coldloader is not
compatible with the Boot
PROM installed in the
Vanguard 320. This error
message appears if you
attempt to use a 5.1M and
lower coldloader for Boot
PROM Rev. 3.0.

Download the latest
coldloader software
(5.2 or higher).

The latest coldloader
software is available at:

https://
secure.vanguardms.com

At the end of the loading,
the node outputs the
message, “V320 -
incompatible image was
loaded.”

You attempted to load a
software image that is not
compatible with the Boot
PROM installed in the
Vanguard 320. This error
appears when you attempt
to load a 5.1M and lower
software image onto a
Vanguard 320 that is
installed with Boot PROM
Rev. 3.0.

Download the latest
software image
(5.2 or higher).

The latest software images
are available at:

https://
secure.vanguardms.com

A “V320 - failed erase
and/or programming
procedure” error message
appears.

This is caused by an error
in the flash programming.

Reset the node using the
reset switch located on the
front panel or power cycle
the node.

At the end of the loading,
the node outputs the
message “VG320 -
awaiting coldload.”

This is because a wrong or
corrupted image has been
loaded into the node and is
being ignored by the
Vanguard 320.

Check to ensure that the
image you are
downloading is intended
for the platform.
