Standard Features
The standard Vanguard 320 provides the following:
• External power supply
• Control Terminal Port (CTP) for local and remote configuration and
management
• Ethernet interface (10BaseT)
• One Serial DIM Port
• Two daughtercard slots
• 2 MB FLASH
• 4 MB, 8 MB or 12 MB DRAM (This represents the total DRAM)
Note
Effective Release 5.4 of the Vanguard Applications Ware, your Vanguard 320
must have a minimum of 8 MB DRAM installed. Your Vanguard 320 unit may
ship with:
• 4 MB and 4 MB upgrade DRAM, for a total of 8 MB DRAM.
• 4 MB and 8 MB upgrade DRAM, for a total of 12 MB DRAM.
(The total DRAM in your Vanguard 320 unit will depend on what you
ordered.)
If your Vanguard 320 has only 4 MB DRAM and you wish to use Vanguard
Applications Ware Release 5.4 or higher, please contact a representative to order
a DRAM upgrade.
CTP Port Port 4 can be used as a Control Terminal Port (CTP) for configuration, reporting, and
troubleshooting the Vanguard 320. To set Port 4 as CTP, put the front panel dip
switch 4 into the DOWN position. To access the CTP you must also configure your
terminal or terminal emulation software, to VT100, 9600 bps, 8 bit, no parity, 1 stop
bit.
Dual Daughtercard
Slots The Vanguard 320 comes with two slots to support optional daughtercards. This
permits easy future expansion of the product.
Operating Software Operating software is compressed in FLASH memory and loaded into DRAM for
operation. The Vanguard 320 supports the standard Applications Ware packages:
• IP+ Applications Ware
• SNA+ Applications Ware
• Multiservice Applications Ware
