3.7 ECM Mode
Your Minoltafax 1300 transmits data using the ITU-T ECM mode. This is a
standard communication system between fax machines of group 3 (G3). In
this standard, data that may have been lost during the transmission due to
low line quality is repeated. This reduces the error rate considerably.
Although this standard raises the transmission time to some degree, it is
still quicker than resending a whole page.
For permanent changes in this setting use software switch No. 24
(cf. "Programming User Software Switches“.) For temporary changes in
this setting follow the procedure given below.
3.7.1 Changing the ECM Mode setting for one Transmission

1 Place the document in the document
feeder.

2 Select contrast or resolution.

4 Press [SET].
ECM ON ?

Press [MENU] to select ON or OFF.
ECM OFF ?
6 Press [SET]. A beep confirms the entry.

7 Dial the telephone number and transmit
the document.
STD NORMAL
The machine returns to the original setting after the transmission.
