Component Function
Sample Path

(continued)

Sample Conditioning Unit (SCU) – Optional, if used

The SCU, which mounts on the stack, filters out particulates,

prevents liquid carry-over, or otherwise conditions the gas sample

prior to transporting it through the Sample Line.

When this system is used, the Vent Line is not used. In this case,

the used sample gas is dispersed to the atmosphere, via a stack,

directly from the Vent Line out of the Analyzer Oven.

Vent Line– Optional, if used

Returns the sample gas to the process duct via the Steam

Jacketed Vent Valve (if used).

Vent Pipe

Vents the sample gas to atmosphere. Typically used in stack gas

sampling.

Pressure Transducer Connection

Trickle Purge Flow

Provides a small flow of air to keep the line between the pressure

transducer and the Calibration Manifold (Solenoid Block) free of

condensation.

Pressure Transducer Measures the pressure of the sample gas in the Measuring Cell.

Calibration Gas System

Introduces Zero and Span gas into the Measuring Cell.

Flow Control Solenoid Introduces Zero gas into system when analyzer sample system is

not up to normal operating temperature.

Used to Zero the analyzer.

Flow Control Rotameter

Used to adjust the flow of Zero and Span gas.

Calibration Gas Port Normally plugged connection used to introduce calibration gas

into the analyzer sample system.

Aspiration Components

The Aspirator Drive Air provides suction to circulate the sample

gas at a controlled flow rate through the analyzer sample system.

Aspirator/Backpurge Air Pressure Regulator

Adjusts drive air flow rate.

Check Valve

Stops sample gas from entering the instrument air system if

instrument air pressure is reduced below the sample gas duct

pressure.

Drive Air Isolation Valve

Manually shuts off drive Aspirator Air to the sample system.

Used for pressure checking the analyzer sample system.

Aspirator Pressure Gauge

Provides indication of Aspirator Air pressure and sample flow

rate.

Provides indication of process pressure when Aspirator Air is

shut off.

Aspirator/Backpurge Rotameter

Adjusts the aspirator air flow rate.
