MECHANICAL TECHNICAL REFERENCES 

3.2.1

 

Install Only in Woodburning fireplaces 

This Mendota Insert must be installed and serviced by a qualified installer, service agency, or the gas supplier.  This Gas Fired 
Insert Heater can only be installed inside a Masonry Woodburning Fireplace cavity or inside a Factory Built Zero Clearance 
Woodburning Fireplace Cavity. For refacing around an existing Masonry Fireplace or a Factory Built Zero Clearance Woodburning 
Fireplace, see

WARNING: Do not attempt to install this Gas Fired  Insert Heater inside any cavities other than a Masonry 
Woodburning Fireplace cavity or a Factory -Built Zero Clearance Woodburning Fireplace cavity. Doing so will 
lead to a house fire wh ich can lead to property damage, physical injury and possible loss of l ife and will 
nullify and void all applicable warranty or claims.  

3.2.2

 

Clearances To Combustibles Materials Inspection Requirement 

Before attempting to install this Fireplace Insert in any ZC Woodburning Fireplace or any Masonry Fireplace, It is required that 
Clearances to Combustibles be inspected and verified that all clearances requirements are met. For Masonry Fireplaces, 
specifically, measure the distance from the top lintel to any combus

tibles that exist above the top lintel. A minimum 12” 

clearance is required between the lintel and the closest combustible framing or facing material located above the lintel. 

If the measured distance is less than 12”, a fire hazard exists.  Do not proceed

 with installation of this insert.
