CREW COMPARTMENT
INSPECTION / TEST
1. Crew Compartment
A. Seat Inspection (Area 1)
Consumable Materials
(Ref. CSP − SPM)
Item Nomenclature
C422 Adhesive Paste, Acrylic
(1). Examine the crew seats for correct
installation.
(a). If necessary, tighten the bolts, nuts,
and screws.
(b). If play is more than 0.020 inch (0.51
mm) , replace attach hardware.
(2). Examine seat adjust mechanism for
correct installation and operation as
follows:
(a). Make sure the handle fully operates
the position lock pin mechanism.
(b). Make sure the position lock pin fully
engages the selected rail position.
1). The maximum radial play when
engaged is 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) .
(c). Examine the cables and rails for
condition and correct installation.
(3). Make sure the seat cushions are clean.
(4). Examine seat cushions for tears, cuts,
or other damage.
(a). The maximum permitted separation
at fabric seams is 1.50 inch (38.1
mm) (across the seam) and a width
of 2.00 inch (50.8 mm) (along the
seam).
Adhesive Paste, Acrylic (C422)
(b). Make sure the hook tape fasteners on
the seat pan are correctly attached.
1). If loose, bond with adhesive paste
(C422).
(c). Make sure loop tape fasteners on
cushions are correctly attached.
(5). Examine attenuation tubes for condi­
tion as follows:
NOTE:
It is not necessary to do maintenance on
or lubricate the attenuation tubes.
(a). No deformation and cracks are
permitted.
(b). No scratches through the external
coating or paint are permitted.
(c). Damage at the attach point of the
upper energy absorber of the plastic
cap.
1). Damage to the cap can be an
indication the energy absorber is
misaligned or damaged.
2). The energy absorber must be
aligned with seat support structure
(along tube center line).
3). No damage is permitted.
(6). Remove corrosion.
(a). The maximum depth permitted is
0.010 inch (0.25 mm) (ref. CSP-
SPM).
B. Seat Energy Absorption System (EAS)
Inspection
(Ref. Figure 601)
(1). Measure the clearance between the
fixed fitting and spacer on the main
tube on the two sides of each crew seat.
(a). The maximum clearance permitted is
0.100 inch (2.54 mm)
