(32). Verify no leaks are present in
flammable fluid systems, where
maintenance or replacement of
components, lines, or fittings has
occurred, by application of system
pressure and visual inspection prior to
helicopter being returned to service.
2. Starter / Generator
A. Removal
(Ref. Figure 404)
NOTE:
This task is typical for left or right hand
starter/generator, and for starter/generator
with the cooling modification (ref. Section
71-60-00).
(1). Make sure electrical power to the
rotorcraft is OFF (ref. Section
96-00-00).
(2). Remove access panels L260 and R260
(ref. Section 53-30-00).
(3). Open Access Panel L210 or R210 (ref.
Section 06-00-00).
NOTE:
Identify and tag connectors before re­
moval in order to reinstall in correct loca­
tion.
(4). Detach starter/generator electrical
connections (ref. Figure 406).
Do not remove the V-band
clamp by prying the band away
from the generator and adapter with a
screw driver. Doing so can cause the clamp
to fail if used again.
(5). Starter/Generators with cooling
modification -
Detach cooling duct
from generator (ref. Section 71-60-00,
Cooling Duct Removal).
(6). Remove lockwire, V-band clamp (39),
and starter/generator (40).
(7). Discard O-ring from starter/generator
shaft.
B. Installation
(Ref. Figure 404)

NOTE:
This task is typical for left- or right-
hand starter/generator, and for starter/gen­
erator with the cooling modification (ref.
Section 71-60-00).
Oil, Lubricating (C106)
(1). Lubricate the starter/generator splines
with lubricating oil (C106).
(2). Install new O-ring on starter/generator
shaft (ref. Directives and Related
Manufacturers' Publications, Section
01-00-00).
(3). Install starter/generator (40) with
V-band clamp (39).
(a). Torque the nut of V-band clamp (39)
to 50 in-lb (5.65 Nm) .
(b). Tap the nut with a non-destructive
mallet to seat the clamp on the
flange. Retorque the nut.
(c). Continue to tap and retorque the nut
until the nut no longer turns after
the torque is applied.
(d). Safety V-band with lockwire (C702)
so that the clamp cannot separate
(ref. Figure 405).
(4). Starter/Generators with cooling
modification -
Attach cooling duct to
generator (ref. Section 71-60-00,
Cooling Duct Installation).
(5). Attach starter/generator electrical
connections (ref. Figure 406).
(6). Close Access Panel L210 or R210 (ref.
Section 06-00-00).
(7). Restore rotorcraft electrical power (ref.
Section 96-00-00).
(8). Do the powerplant operational test (ref.
Section 71-00-00).
