Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting Chart
The sequence below will help isolate a problem or malfunction and often permit a quick repair. If further
assistance is required, refer to the applicable section of this manual or contact McNeilus Street Smart Parts and
Service at 507-374-6321.
Isolate the problem before taking any corrective
actions.
IMPORTANT
Unless further damage will occur, repeat the steps that caused the problem.
Refer to the troubleshooting chart. It is designed to help you troubleshoot problems at your location, and is
organized in a logical sequence.
Perform the diagnostic procedure and recommendation for how to correct the problem listed within the chart to
isolate the problem.
If your particular problem is not listed, or the remedial actions provided do not resolve the problem, we suggest
you contact McNeilus Street Smart Parts and Service at 507-374-6321 for service assistance.
Periodic checks of the monitor system, cables and their connectors and wiring, and cameras will help
you spot potential trouble areas before they result in a system failure. A good time to check is when the
vehicle is in for scheduled maintenance.
Possible Causes How to Diagnose How to Correct Problem
A. Monitor Does Not Power Up
1.
Power Wires
Check monitor
power wires and
fuses.
Check for power to Battery/yellow wire and ACC power/red wire. Check fuses
for the Battery and ACC power wire. If fuses are bad, replace with standard fuse
(Littel fuse Mini ATM 5 Amp).
B. Monitor Lights Up But No Picture Appears

Adjust monitor controls (i.e. brightness, tint) to see if picture appears.

Cable
Visual inspection of
cables. Check the
cable for obvious
damage (i.e. cuts,
crimping) and the
connectors for
corrosion or pin
damage. Make sure
connectors are
connected and free
of debris.
1. Remove debris, secure the connection. Replace the damaged cables.
2. Check the cable by removing the camera from the cable and plugging the
camera directly into the monitor. If the camera works, replace the cable.
3. Make sure the cable is plugged in correctly.
C. Monitor Does Not Light Up - Dark or Blue Screen

is connected to the
monitor.
1. A blue monitor screen can occur even if cameras are not plugged in. Check
that cameras are plugged in and detected by the monitor software. Press the
menu button until AUTO/NTSC appear in the upper left corner of the monitor.
This AUTO function detects and recognizes the cameras being plugged in.
2. Check the cable by removing the camera from the cable and plugging the
camera directly into the monitor. If the camera works, replace the cable.
3. Make sure the cable is plugged in correctly.
