Taking a Manual Snapshot of a Volume
There might be times when you want to take a snapshot of a volume that falls outside of the regularly
scheduled snapshot times. When you take a snapshot of a volume using the resnap function, the
newly taken snapshot overwrites the previously existing one for the specified interval. For example,
if you have a snapshot set up to occur hourly and then click
Resnap
, a new snapshot is built that
overwrites the existing hourly snapshot.
NOTE:
This feature is only available on NSS6000 series NAS units.
To take a manual snapshot:
1. From the
Manager Menu
, click
Storage
Snapshots.
The
Storage Snapshots
page appears.
2. Click
Resnap
next to the volume for which you want to take a snapshot.
The snapshot takes seconds to complete. To ensure data integrity, no writes can occur to the
share until the snapshot is complete.
