8.4 Wearing parts
Vanes, agitator, metering outlets
If these parts show signs of wearing, deformation, holes or fissures, they must
be replaced to avoid spreading accuracy deterioration. The life of these com-
ponents is dependent, amongst other things, on the type of fertiliser products
used.
If the distance between the agitator finger and hopper floor is greater than 20 mm, the
agitator must be replaced.
Only by respecting this dimension will it be possible to achieve an even fertiliser output
(constant application rate).
8.5 Checking and setting the metering slide balance and
specially checking the metering slides for seed and slug
pellet spreading
Injury hazard from shearing and crushing elements.
Serious hand injuries can occur during adjustment operations.
•
Never operate the metering slide controls, especially hydraulic metering
controls, when a lower link pin or other adjustment gauge is inserted into
the metering slide opening.

When making adjustments, take especial care around the metering slide
area, which can shear or crush.
8.5.1 Checking the metering slide
Before each season and regularly during the season, the metering slides should
be checked to ensure that they open simultaneously and evenly.
When spreading seed or slug pellets, it should be checked even more particu-
larly that the metering slides open evenly and simultaneously.
•
Set the stop and stop lever to position 130 on the application rate proportio-
nal scale (for seed or slug pellets select position 9).
•
Open the metering slides up to these previously mentioned stop positions.
