CATHEDRAL CEILING INSTALLATIONS
1. Follow installation instructions outlined in steps 1 and 2 under vertical
terminations.
2. Using the plumb line, mark the centreline of the venting system on the
ceiling and drill a small hole at this location. From the roof, locate the
drill hole and mark the outline of the Cathedral Ceiling Support Box.
3. Remove any shingles or other roof covering as necessary to cut the
rectangular hole required for the support box. Cut the hole 1/8" larger
than the support box outline.
4. Lower the support box through the hole in the roof until the bottom of
the box protrudes at least two inches below the ceiling. Align the
support box both horizontally and vertically with a level. Temporarily
tack the support box in place through the inside walls and into the roof
sheathing.
5. Use your tin snips to cut the support box from the top corners down to
the roofline. Fold the resulting flaps over the roof sheathing. Run a small
bead of non-hardening mastic prior to nailing. Insure a tight seal
between the support box and the roof. Clear away any combustible
material from the inside of the support box.
6. Complete the Cathedral Ceiling installation by following the same
procedures outlined in steps 4 through 7 under vertical terminations.
