Installation
When supplied, the inverter does not have overvoltage
protection.
In order to protect the inverter from overvoltage damage,
type 2 overvoltage protection can be used on the AC
and DC sides.
Modules can be inserted on the communication board's
retaining plate to provide the communication cables with
overvoltage protection.
The overvoltage protection modules can be obtained
from your service partner, specialist shops or the
KOSTAL Solar Electric GmbH online shop. The types
which can be used are listed on the following pages in
the Info block.
If overvoltage protection has been inserted in the
inverter, recurring or disproportionately high overvoltages
may result in accelerated wear and failure of the
overvoltage protection used. The function of the
overvoltage protection used on the AC and DC sides is
therefore monitored by the inverter electronics. The
inverter signals the failure of one or more overvoltage
protection components with a corresponding event
code.

The function of the overvoltage
protection modules of the communi‑
cation cables cannot be monitored by
the inverter electronics.
Problems in communication with the
inverter indicate failure of the over‑
voltage protection modules. If this
happens, the modules should be
checked.
