Installing a DRAM SIMM
Before you perform the installation, be sure to read the fore-
going section “Safety precautions” and “Please note when
installing an option board/memory.”
A maximum of three memory SIMMs can be installed.
A DRAM SIMM will function correctly when installed
in any slot.
For ease of installation, we recommend that you first
use the slot that is furthest from yourself.
If you wish to use three 32 Mbytes DRAM SIMMs, you
will need to remove the factory-installed 16 Mbytes
DRAM SIMM as explained in “Removing an DRAM
SIMM.”
You must leave the AC power cable disconnected until
you finish the entire process of removing the lid, install-
ing the option board or memory, and reattaching the lid.
1 Open the sample memory (RAM) slot cover located in
the upper left of the front panel.
• 61 key or 76 key model
1)
Set the [LOCK/UNLOCK] switch to the UNLOCK
position.
2) Lightly press the area shown in the illustration to make
the sample memory (RAM) slot cover lift up, and open
the cover.
When you open the sample memory (RAM) slot cover,
be careful not to press it too far backward. If you apply
excessive pressure, the cover may come off and be dam-
aged.
• 88 key model
1) Use a coin or similar object to turn the screw counter-
clockwise until the sample memory (RAM) slot cover
lifts up. (Turn counter-clockwise to loosen the screw, or
clockwise to tighten it.)
2) Raise the sample memory (RAM) slot cover to the
angle shown in the diagram, and remove it.
When you open the sample memory (RAM) slot cover,
do not raise it too far toward the rear. The cover may
come off, be careful not to drop into the interior of the
TRITON Extreme.
2 Have the DRAM SIMM at hand.
3 Verify the location of the slot into which you will install
the DRAM SIMM module.
When the TRITON Extreme is shipped from the factory, a
16 Mbyte DRAM SIMM module is installed in the slot
located at the rear. If you want to add one or two addi-
tional memory modules, install them in the vacant slots.
If you want to install three memory modules, remove the
factory-installed DRAM SIMM as described in “Remov-
ing a DRAM SIMM,” and use all three of the slots.
The end with the notch is 1 PIN. Align the 1 PIN mark
(

) of the slot with the 1 PIN marking on the DRAM
SIMM.
