eter: therefore we strongly recommend to use ropes with a min-
imum diameter of 10 mm. The slotted cam helps to expel mud
and
can reduce but does not solve
such slippage problem.
Warning: it is forbidden to use TRENDER on wire ropes.

Fig. 1-2 –Parts names and their principal materials: (A) Body in
aluminium alloy, (B) Steel slotted cams , (C) Safety devices for
slotted cams in aluminium alloy, (D) Retainer device for ropes
in aluminium alloy, (E1-E2) Holes in which connectors to lock
the retainer device of ropes can be inserted, (F) Hole to attach
the safety lanyard or connector, (G) Connector in aluminium
alloy, (H) Ergonomic handgrips in polyamide.
POSITIONING
Fig. 3 – How to position TRENDER onto
ropes with the same
diameter:
lock one of the two slotted cams (B) in the open position pulling
the safety device (C) outside the body (A),
lift the ropes retainer device (D) and insert the TRENDER onto
one of the two ropes, checking the marked direction of use,
release the slotted cam (B), pressing it against the rope,
make sure that the safety device (C) is positioned inside the
body (A) preventing the slotted cam (B) from opening,
repeat the above operations a, b, c, d, inserting the second rope
into the other slotted cam (B).
lock the ropes retainer device (D) inserting the connector (G)
into the hole (E1); in case of TRENDER BASE insert a connec-
tor conforming to EN 362 into the hole (E2).
Warning: before climbing it is important to fix the ropes to
a fixed point (with the minimum slack possible) in order to
avoid accidental slippage that may result into serious in-
juries or even into death (fig. 4).
Tree-climbers schools, under their own responsibility, may use
or teach you to use other safety systems for climbing.
For the sake of safety, before using TRENDER, make sure that it
works properly. make sure whether it slides in the direction of use
(upwards) and locks in the other direction (downwards) – (fig. 5).
USE
Warning: TRENDER FULL and TRENDER BASE are not fall
arrester devices:
- TRENDER shall always be above the point where it is hooked
to the harness (fig. 6),
- never pass a belay point with the TRENDER underneath the
knot! (fig. 7).
Warning:
- never push TRENDER up against the knot: it could be very
difficult, if not impossible, to release it (fig. 8),
- if it is necessary to slide TRENDER downwards,
activate only
the slotted cams
(fig. 9),
do not disconnect the connector
that locks the safety devices (C and D): risk of death!
(fig.
10).
Warning: descent is very dangerous!
N.B.: on TRENDER FULL always keep the connector (G) in-
serted in the hole (E1): it prevents the safety devices of the slot-
ted cams (C) from accidentally opening, disengaging them.
USE TRENDER AS A TWIN ASCENDER
(EN 567)
Warning: use it always with two ropes having the same di-
ameter.
Fig. 11 – Example of the correct progression: the FOOT FU-
TURA blocking device, used in combination with a chest clamp
(CAM CLEAN or BODY FUTURA) and TRENDER, helps to
keep the user’s body upright facilitating ascent.
Warning:
FOOT FUTURA is an accessory device: it is not a personal
