Operating the Smartline Pump 1000
Before the pump can be put into operation, several settings must first be
made from the menu screens. Use the information in the sections “Menu
Structure of the Smartline Pump 1000” on page 10 and “Using the
SETUP Menu” on page 13.
Demonstration example for setting parameters
For your convenience, this example points out how to configure a binary
low pressure gradient using valves A and B.
This example may not comply with your needs and is given here for
convenience only. When setting the parameters for your pump, you
will need to select parameters that meet your requirements. Using
this example without proper adjustment of parameters may lead to
damage of your equipment.
Enter the SETUP menu (see Fig. 9 on page 12).

Selection of the Correct Pump Head
This SOP applies to the Smartline Pump 1000 Firmware Version 1.0X or
higher.
1. Select the PUMP HEAD menu by pressing the
À
key from the
SETUP menu.
2. Use
the
½
or
¾
keys to scroll through the list of pump heads until
the installed type of pump appears, e.g. 10 ml or 50 ml.
3. Press
the
½
key to confirm the selection and return to the rhombus.
Selection of a pump head automatically adjusts the maximum
system pressure.

Selection of the Operation Mode
This SOP applies to the Smartline Pump 1000 Firmware Version 1.0X or
higher.
1. Return to the GRADIENT MODE screen by pressing the
¿
key.
2. Press
the
¾
and then the
¿
key to scroll through the gradient
mode options until LPG appears.
3. Use
the
¾
key to position the cursor on the second line.
4. Select “ON” or “
−−
“ (off) at positions A, B, C and D to select the
solvent channels which you wish to use. The number of ONs
selected applies to all of the programs in the pump’s memory.
5. You can use the
¿
or
À
key to select ON at any of the four
positions.
6. Position the cursor on the next position (e. g. B) and select ON .
7. Press
the
¾
key three times to position the cursor at the rhombus.
8. The display should appear as shown in Fig. 14
9. Leave this menu page with

to return to the main menu.
