Chilled Water
Chilled-water piping must be sized to deliver the required water flow. Pipe size is determined by the available
water pressure, pressure drop within the pipe and unit, length of run, maximum velocity, water temperature and
flow requirements. See the table for capacity and flow-rate data for 45°F entering water at typical computer-
room conditions.
Chilled-water connections are FPT and are the same size as the chilled-water valve for both the inlet and out-
let. A shut-off valve (by others) should be installed on the the inlet and outlet line.
Insulate the chilled-water lines where they run through conditioned spaces if the water temperature is likely to
drop below the space dew point.
