STORAGE BATTERIES
During operation
Storage batteries are intended to start engine with
starter and supply electric consumers. Storage batteries
are filled with aqueous solution of electrolytic sulfuric
acid as electrolyte.
Electrolyte density in fully charged battery should
be (1,28 ± 0,01) g/cm
3
at 25 ºС, open circuit voltage is to
be not below 12,6 V.
Battery operation is prohibited if electrolyte den-
sity is below 75 % of full charge (less 1,24 g/cm
3
) and
voltage of closed circuit of storage battery is less than
12,0V.
Storage batteries should be applied according to B
type external dimensions применяются с габаритами

If vehicle won’t work for more than 3 days, be
sure to disconnect constant power supply wire (wire with
yellow mark) from storage battery to avoid discharge.
The storage battery, in this case, should be disconnected
with the help of storage battery switch.
Battery body should be intact, without chips and
cracks. The body surface should be clean, without leak-
age traces, dirt or dust, otherwise, excessive self-
discharge may take place. For maitenance, wipe the up-
per battery cover to clean it from dirt and dust.
Prevent vent holes of storage batteries from clog-
ging and clean them on a regular basis. Vent holes on
covers should be free to provide gas escape. Otherwise
the cover can be damaged resulting in the storage battery
failure.
If any clogging in the cover holes a damage in the
form of explosion destruction of battery may occur.
Battery terminals should be clean and dry. Apply
thin layer of acid-resistant protective grease. Tighten
wires on terminals with a torque of 8-12 N·m. Loose at-
tachment may cause sparking and explosion with release
of explosive gas, battery may fail.
To test the electrolyte level
Electrolyte level should touch the bottom edge of
filling neck tube which corresponds to distance from
electrolyte surface till separator of 10-15 mm (see Fig.
