Autopilot and autothrottle system
The autopilot can:
• Hold an altitude, airspeed or Mach number existing at the time of engagement
• Hold a selected heading
• Fly a VOR radial tuned into the NAV 1 radio
• Fly an ILS approach
• Follow an INS or GPS flight plan
The aircraft is fitted with two autopilot systems but only one can be engaged at any one time.
Each autopilot has an integral yaw damping system. Before an autopilot can be engaged, its associated yaw
damper must be selected on. The damper remains operative when the autopilot is disengaged.
Power supplies for each autopilot are controlled by the corresponding AUTOPILOT MASTER switches.
Before the autopilot can be engaged, the following conditions must be met:
• The associated AUTOPILOT MASTER switch is ON
• The associated yaw damper is engaged
• The turn knob is in the centre detent and the mode selector knob is in the MAN position
The autopilot can be engaged using the corresponding autopilot engage switch. If the key assignment is used,
autopilot No.1 will be engaged by default.
