Use anti-freeze in accordance with the coolant specifications (see section 7).
The water/anti-freeze mixture proportion and the degree of frost protection to be
achieved can be taken from the anti-freeze specifications.

Filling the cooling circuit

Leave the engine to cool down in order to fill it with coolant. Slowly open the lid;
dangerously hot coolant can escape if the coolant circuit is still pressurized. Do not
add too much coolant to the circuit. The lid contains a safety valve which opens to let
hot coolant dissipate if the fluid level is too high.

If coolant is added in the course of servicing, it must meet the specifications of the
original fluid (see Section 7). If you add coolant too quickly or if the truck is not
horizontal, air will enter the cooling circuit. Running the engine with air in the coolant
circuit will result in excessive operating temperatures and can damage the engine.

The truck must be horizontal. Slowly open the reservoir lid. Using a funnel, slowly fill
the coolant circuit to the level indicated in the manufacturer's manual. The funnel will
create the pressure required to force air out of the coolant circuit. Wait until all the air
bubbles have escaped and then refit the lid. Start the engine. Switch off the engine
when it reaches operating temperature and then let it cool down. Slowly open the
reservoir lid and if necessary add coolant in accordance with the manual instructions
until you obtain the correct level. Refit the lid.
