Required operator qualifications
Personnel responsible for running or servicing the machine must be in possession of specific
professional qualifications for each of the required tasks.
The operator must be instructed and hence familiar with the assigned duties under his/her
responsibility.
The following is a description of the professional profiles for machine operators.
General information and warnings
Operator
Qualified person capable of performing simple tasks such as running the
machine through the use of the pushbutton panel and loading and unloading
of the materials used in production: the operator is typically capable of
performing simple tasks of adjustment, start-up or resumption of production
following a forced stoppage.
Maintenance Mechanic
Qualified technician able to run the machine in normal conditions, to run
it with the protections disabled, to work on mechanical parts to perform
adjustments, maintenance operations and any repairs that may be needed.
The maintenance mechanic is not authorised to work on live electrical
systems.
Maintenance Electrician
Qualified technician able to run the machine in normal conditions and run it
with the protections disabled. The maintenance electrician can perform all
electrical adjustment, maintenance and repair tasks.
The maintenance electrician is authorized to work inside electrical cabinets
and junction boxes while the electrical power is connected.
Handling Operative
Person with specific skills in lifting techniques and equipment, harnessing
techniques and safe handling of loads.
Manufacturer's Maintenance Mechanic and Electrician
Qualified technicians provided by the manufacturer if necessary
to perform complex operations in special situations or in
accordance with the agreements entered into with the user.
