Testing the 1555

3-7

3

6. Position the 1555 at the appropriate distance from the Scanner Test Card as listed

below:

For configuration 1555EXX01XX00XX, position the scanner window 1.0 cm
± 1.0 cm (0.5 in ± 0.5 in) from the Scanner Test Card.

For configuration 1555EXX02XX02XX, position the scanner window 45.0 cm
± 2.0 cm (17.75 in ± 0.75 in) from the Scanner Test Card.

7. Scan the “Near” bar code label 4 times. The 1555 passes the test if it successfully

reads the code at least 3 of the 4 tries. The 1555 fails the test if it successfully reads
the code only once or not at all in 4 tries.

If the 1555 passes the test, disconnect the power and continue with the RFID
Functional Test.

If the 1555 fails the test, there is a problem with reading bar codes. For help, see
Chapter 1, “Troubleshooting the 1555.”

RFID Functional Test

Perform this test to confirm the 1555’s ability to read and interpret RFID tags. If the
Shielded Test Chamber (P/N 45459-002) is available, perform the Radiated Tag Read
test. Otherwise, perform the Open Air Tag Read Test.

Radiated Tag Read Test

1. Place the Tag Plate in the Shielded Test Chamber at the measurement mark as

follows:

915 MHz: 45 cm

2450 MHz: 40 cm

The next illustration shows the Tag Plate mounted in the test chamber at the 40 cm
mark.
