This chapter explains testing procedures for the 1555 during troubleshooting or after
repairs are performed.
Overview
When troubleshooting or after replacing parts in the 1555, test it to ensure correct
functionality. The 1555 test procedures include:
•
Scanner and LED operation
•
Bar code depth of field
•
RFID functionality
Accessories Needed for Testing
You need the following accessories to test the 1555:
For Standard models (both 915 MHz and 2.4 GHz):
•
Stationary reader cable (P/N 3-614032-00)
•
External power supply (P/N 070826)
For PDT models (both 915 MHz and 2.4 GHz):
•
PDT reader cable (P/N 3-634032-11)
•
Charged battery (P/N 070067)
Equipment Needed for Testing
You need the following equipment to test the 1555:
•
PC with Windows 95 or later
•
High Performance Scanner Test Card (P/N 071802-006) for configuration
1555EXX01XX00XX
•
Long Range Scanner Test Card (P/N 071802-002) for configuration
1555EXX02XX02XX
•
RFID Host Application, P/N A110006
•
Shielded Test Chamber, P/N 45459-002, or the 2450 MHz and 915 MHz Single Tag
Test Targets, Part Nos. T45532 and T45533.
Replacing Product Labels on the 1555
After the 1555 passes all operational tests, use new labels from the 1555 Label Set (P/N
072374S-001) to replace the product labels on the lower case assembly and handle. Do
not install new labels until after all testing is completed and passed.
