Select the desired frequency band. (p. 35)

Push [SSB] to select the LSB or USB mode.
• When operating above 10 MHz, USB is selected first;
when operating below 10 MHz, LSB is selected first.
• After USB or LSB is selected, hold down [SSB] for 1
second to select the data mode, if needed.

Rotate [MAIN DIAL] to tune a desired signal.
• The S-meter indicates the received signal strength.

The tuning step can be changed using the tuning step
program mode. (p. 38)

Rotate [AF] (MAIN Band) to adjust the audio to a
comfortable listening level.

Push [PTT] on the microphone to transmit. (or
[TRANSMIT] on the transceiver)
• The TX/RX indicator (MAIN Band) lights red.

Speak into the microphone at your normal voice
level.
• Rotate [MIC GAIN] to adjust the microphone gain at this
step, if necessary.

Release [PTT] to receive. (or push [TRANSMIT]
