Installing an adapter

The following notes describe the types of adapters that the server supports and
other information that you must consider when you install an adapter:

v

To confirm that the server supports the adapter that you are installing, see
http://www.ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/.

v

Locate the documentation that comes with the adapter and follow those
instructions in addition to the instructions in this section.

v

The server does not support any high-definition video-out connector or stereo
connector on any add-on video adapter.

v

The server does not support PCI-X adapters or legacy 5 V PCI adapters.

v

Disconnect the power cords from the power source before you remove or install
any adapter or riser card.

v

The server supports two optional Ethernet adapters that you can purchase: the
IBM dual-port 10Gb SFP (fiber) Ethernet adapter and the IBM dual-port 10Gb-T
(copper) Ethernet adapter. For more information, see Table 16 on page 68).
