Preparing the 9040-MR9 system for operation after installing an NVMe U.2
drive
To prepare the system for operation after installing an NVMe U.2 drive, complete the steps in this
procedure.
Procedure
1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap on and that the ESD clip is plugged
into a ground jack or connected to an unpainted metal surface. If not, do so now.
2. Choose from the following options:
• If you installed an NVMe U.2 drive when the system power was turned off, continue with step “3” on
page 8.
• If you are using the AIX operating system, continue with step “4” on page 9.
• If you are using the Linux operating system, continue with step “6” on page 9.
3. To complete the procedure with the system power off, complete the following steps:
a) Using your labels, reconnect the power cords (A) to the system unit as shown in the following
figure.
