2.7.11 Asynchronous and USB adapters

Asynchronous PCIe adapters provide connection of asynchronous EIA-232 or RS-422
devices. If you have a cluster configuration or high-availability configuration and plan to
connect the IBM Power Systems by using a serial connection, use the features listed
in Table 2-20.

2.7.12 Cryptographic coprocessor

The cryptographic coprocessor cards provide both cryptographic coprocessor and
cryptographic accelerator functions in a single card.

The IBM PCIe cryptographic coprocessor adapter has the following features:

Note: The FC 5283 adapter has two 40 Gb ports, and a PCIe Gen2 slot has the bandwidth
to support one port. This means that the benefit of two ports will be for redundancy rather
than additional performance.
