v PCI slots 1 and 2 are on PCI bus A and PCI slots 3, 4,
and 5 are on PCI bus B. Both PCI buses are primary
buses. The system scans PCI slots 1 through 5 to
assign system resources; then the system starts (boots)
the PCI devices in the following order, if you have not
changed the default boot precedence: PCI slots 1 and 2,
system board SCSI devices, and then PCI slots 3
through 5.
Note: To change the boot precedence for PCI devices,
start the Configuration/Setup Utility program,
select Start Options from the main menu, then
select the PCI SCSI adapter boot option. See
“Configuring the server” on page 41 for details on
using the Configuration/Setup Utility program.

To install an adapter:
1. Review the information in “Before you begin” on
page 61.
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and
disconnect all external cables and power cords; then,
remove the cover. See “Removing the cover, door,
and bezel” on page 63 for details.
3. Determine which expansion slot you will use for the
adapter.
