Use only 64, 128, or 256 MB DIMMs in any combination of supported
SDRAM DIMMs.
Installing and removing a DIMM
Before you begin:
Read “Safety information” on page vii and “Handling static-sensitive
devices” on page 57.
Read the instructions that come with the new system memory.
Turn off the computer and all other connected devices.
Disconnect all power cords and external cables attached to the
computer, and then remove the computer cover (see “Removing the
cover” on page 59).
Read “Identifying parts on the system board” on page 65 to locate
the memory connectors on the system board.
Notes:
1. You might need to move the power supply to gain access to the DIMM
sockets. See “Moving the power supply” on page 61.
2. You might also have to remove an adapter for clear access to the DIMM
sockets. For more information about adapters, see “Working with
adapters” on page 68.
To install a DIMM:
1. Open the module retaining clips on the DIMM socket.
2. Position the DIMM over the the connector making sure that the notches
in the DIMM are aligned with the tabs on the connector.
3. Push the DIMM straight down into the connector until the retaining clips
close.
