For this purpose, the system will save the 16-bit index for an interface after the card where the interface
resides or the logical interface is removed.
If you repeatedly insert and remove different subcards/interface cards or create/delete a large number
of logical interfaces, the interface indexes will be used up, and new interfaces cannot be created. To
solve this problem, you can clear all unused 16-bit interface indexes in user view.
After the clearing operation,
•
A re-created interface’s index might not be consistent with the original index.
• Existing interfaces’ indexes remain unchanged.
Follow these steps to clear unused 16-bit interface indexes:
