It is normal for the fron t panel LEDs (which include HP-IB LEDs and ST A TUS LEDs) to
turn on and o during an instrumen t self-test (for instance, at turn-on.)
ST A TUS LEDs
The fron t panel ST A TUS LEDs indicate the status of the instrumen t. Both the HP 70340A
and the HP 70341A ha v e ST A TUS LEDs. The t w o LEDs are the A CT LED and the ERR
LED.
The ERR (error) LED lights when there is a problem with the signal generator or with one of
the other comp onen ts in the MMS. T o clear the error condition and turn o the LED, refer
to the pro cedure, \T o Chec k the Error Queue," in the \P erforming F undamen tal Op erations"
c hapter.
The A CT (active) indicates that the signal generator is b eing used through the display
k eyb oard. This LED do es not indicate an y instrumen t error conditions.

TLK LED
When the HP 70340A fron t panel HP-IB TLK (T ALK) LED is on, it indicates that the signal
generator is addressed to talk (send information) to the con troller.
When the signal generator receiv es its talk address from the con troller, the TLK LED lights.
The TLK LED remains on un til the con troller sends the signal generator a listen address, a
new talk address, an Ab ort message, or a univ ersal un talk command.
When HP-IB activit y o ccurs, the TLK LED is up dated only when the signal generator is not
busy pro cessing HP-IB trac. The dela y in up dating o ccurs so that the op eration sp eed of
the signal generator is not imp eded.

UNLEVELED LED
This HP 70340A fron t panel LED illuminates when p o w er at the RF OUTPUT connector is
not lev eled.
Sp ecically , the UNLEVELED LED illuminates when the signal generator is set to a p o w er
lev el greater than the maximum lev eled p o w er a v ailable. It indicates that the p o w er lev el
sho wn on the display is incorrect.
