LEDs- HP 70340A and HP 70341A
The LEDs listed here include those that are on the HP 70340A, HP 70341A, y our display
and/or mainframe. The LEDs are listed in alphab etical order.
A CT LED
The green fron t panel HP 70340A and HP 70341A A CT (A CTIVE) LED is a ST A TUS
indicator. It illuminates when the instrumen t con trols the k eyb oard or when it is accessed in a
conguration function.
It is normal for the fron t panel LEDs (which include HP-IB LEDs and ST A TUS LEDs) to
turn on and o during an instrumen t self-test (for instance, at turn-on.)
The signal generator A CT LED ligh ts when the cursor of the Address Map (Display screen) is
at its HP-MSIB address. Y ou can iden tify the signal generator (or other mo dule's) HP-MSIB
address b y scrolling the cursor through the address map and observing when the A CT LED is
on.
ERR LED
The HP 70340A and HP 70341A red fron t panel ERR (ERR OR) LED is one of the
instrumen t ST A TUS LEDs. This LED illuminates when there is a problem with the
instrumen t or, p ossibly , with another comp onen t in the MMS.
Conditions whic h generate an error and cause the ERR LED to ligh t are listed in \Error
Messages".
If the HP 70341A ERR LED lights, the mo dule requires service.
The ERR LED turns o when the error condition no longer exists and the condition has
b een rep orted (read from the fron t panel error queue). Y ou can rep ort an error b y accessing

If the HP 70340A ERR LED ashes at ab out a 1 Hz rate, it indicates that the signal
generator can not comm unicate with the HP-MSIB.
HP-IB LEDs
The four HP 70340A fron t panel HP-IB LEDs are LSN, SR Q, RMT , and TLK . When the
signal generator is under the con trol of an external HP-IB con troller, the RMT (remote) LED
lights. When the signal generator is in remote or lo cal mo de, the LSN LED and the TLK
LED indicate whether the signal generator is addressed to \listen" or \talk," resp ectiv ely . The
SR Q LED lights during a signal generator generated service request.
When HP-IB activit y o ccurs, the RMT LED is up dated immediately . TLK , LSN, and SR Q
are up dated only when the signal generator is not busy pro cessing HP-IB trac. The dela y in
up dating o ccurs so that the op eration sp eed of the signal generator is not imp eded.
