In raised position the discs should not
touch the soil.
The discs would in this case wear off non-circular
and could no longer be used.
In this case it would be better not to shut off the
coulters and allow them to rotate in the soil.
Maintenance
Bearings are oil-fi lled and therefore maintenance
free.
¾
Check the discs regularly for clearance, leak
tightness, wear and free rotation.
¾
Check the drill arm bearing (rubber); replace if
aged or the tensioning force has diminished.
¾
In case of wear on the coulter discs you must
adjust the fertiliser pipes higher, to make sure
that they will not be ground off in the soil.
Notes on cleaning
The mechanical seals are very sensitive if water
has entered and the machine is then parked over
a longer period of time.
This can cause corrosion and both mechanical
seal rings may stick together. The mechanical
seal rings will then rotate around the O-ring and
damage it. Oil would run out and the bearing
would be damaged after a short while.
¾
Bearings must therefore not be cleaned with
high pressure cleaning equipment.
¾
Before longer periods of rest the bearing loca-
tions should be sprayed with a rust dissolver
or corrosion protection.
¾
Before resuming operation the discs should
be turned by hand and checked for free rotation.
In case of wear on the coulter discs you must
adjust the fertiliser pipes higher, to make sure
that they will not be ground off in the soil.
Loosen both screws and fasten the pipe again
slightly higher.
Adjust the pipes to the same height on
all fertiliser discs.
Sowing without fertiliser
If no fertiliser is to be placed, the fertiliser quan-
tity must be set to 0 kg/ha in the DrillManager
and the metering unit can be switched off .
In raised position the seed coulters can be shut
off with a cock valve.
