Checking the setting
Before filling in seed, you should check the set
-
ting on the metering unit.
¾
Does the metering disc match the seed and
has the E-Manager been set accordingly?
¾
Does the outside scraper match the fruit and
has it been adjusted according to the table?
¾
Does the inside scraper match the fruit?
¾
Does the sliding bridge match the fruit?
¾
Has the grain feed gate been adjusted?
¾
Has the correct downpipe been installed and
has it been cleaned inside?
¾
Are all components free of any deposits?
Testing the settings - using one row
Park the drill so that all drill units are in horizontal
position.
¾
Before filling in seed check the hoppers for
foreign objects and moisture.
¾
The seed must be dry and, as far as possible,
free of dust and foreign objects.
¾
¾
The seed must not have been mixed and
should, as far as possible, be uniform in shape
and size.
Talc or graphite powder (approx.
1 LB
per
8 bushel
of seed) may be admixed to seed
with
sticky dressing.
For testing fill in seed only in one row. If changes
are still be made to the metering unit, all other
metering units would have to be emptied again.

Converting the metering unit
¾
Force the tongues (1) on the Seed-On-
Demand elbow carefully apart and pull the
elbow out (2).
¾
Attach the funnel (3).
¾
Fill in seed.
¾
Place a container under the downpipe.
¾
Switch on the E-Manager and run the vacuum fan.
¾
Adjust the vacuum as specified in the table.
¾
Start the test program in the E-Manager -
see E-Manager instructions.
The test results and thus the seed quality
depend on:
¾
Metering disc
¾
Setting of outside scraper
¾
Position of feed gate
¾
Quality of seed (uniform shape and grain size,
dressing, moisture, etc.)
¾
Vacuum setting
¾
Humidity
¾
Rotation speed of the metering disc (seed
quantity and working speed)
¾
Position of drill unit
Depending on the result and the evaluation of
the test program change the setting and repeat
the test, until the best setting has been reached.
After the test check the seed for damage.
In case of damaged grains install the next
"smaller" metering dis and repeat the test, until
the best setting has been found.
After the test run transfer the setting to
all drill units and adjust all metering
units equally.
Then fill all seed hoppers.
