9 Pneumatic system

The pneumatic system consists of the fan, the hopper, one or several metering units,
and one or several distributor towers.

WARNING

Risk from hazardous dust (fertiliser, dressing).

Ø

Always wear suitable protective outfit (safety goggles, respiratory masks, pro-
tective gloves) for cleaning and maintenance work.

9.1 Fan

The hydraulic fan is directly driven by the tractor hydraulics.

The generated air flow conveys the seed from the fall sluices to the coulters. The re-
quired air quantity depends on seed (type and weight), seed quantity, working
width and sowing speed. A correct fan speed cannot be specified and must there-
fore be determined by trials in the field.

The air flow must not be too weak so that the seed does not remain in the hoses
and causes blockage. Too weak an air flow may also have a negative effect on the
distribution.

NOTE

Ø

Check the fan settings, seed transport and seed placement at the start of
work and then regularly during working.

Ø

Adjust the fan speed, if necessary.

Fan wing and protective grid must be regularly checked for dirt deposits and
cleaned.

Deposits on the protective grid restrict the air flow and thus lead to blockage in the
seed pipes. Deposits on the fan impeller cause unbalance. The bearing will thereby
be overloaded and can be damaged.

The fan speed is adjusted via the oil quantity on the flow control valve in the tractor.
The hydraulic pump must deliver sufficient oil to prevent the fan speed from drop-
ping, even when the tractor speed drops or other hydraulic functions are activated.

NOTE

Fans with or without oil cooling are installed. The fan with cooler is optionally avail-
able.
