The following describes the controller boot and watchdog behavior. 

 
 

 
 

XW System

 

The XW

*

 (Excel Web) System has the following functions: 

 
 

 

•

 Controls available memory, BACstac and XLWebExe threads 

•

 Communicates with CARE (Date/Time and IP settings) 

•

 Triggers watchdog every 10 sec. 

 
If the watchdog is not triggered within 40 sec, a cold boot will happen. 
If the second boot trial fails within 40 sec, the following will happen: 

•

  the Watchdog relay opens 

•

  the watchdog LED lights up 

•

  controller will stay in "Reset-lock". 

(Now, Power "off/on" or 

Reset 

button is necesary) 

 
NOTES: 
The watchdog does not "supervise" the application, it "supervises" the Operating 
System of the Excel Web controller. 
 
If the controller has no power, the watchdog relay is opened. 
 
Example: 
 
If the application or parts of it are stopped, the watchdog relay will not open, unless 
the Operating System is affected.
