MAINTENANCE
If
adjusting t h e brake pedal t o the lower position,
make sure that the clearance between the lower end
of the push r o d and t h e brake pedal does n o t fall
below 1 mm (0.04
in).
If adjusting t o the higher position, make sure that a
portion of the lower end of the push rod thread is vis-
ible inside the joint.
SKID PLATE, ENGINE GUARD
Check t h e skid plate and engine guard for cracks,
damage or looseness.
Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace the skid plate
and engine guard as required (page
2-5
and
CLUTCH SYSTEM
Inspect t h e clutch cable f o r kinks or damage, and
lubricate the cable if necessary.
Measure the clutch lever free play at the end of the
lever

Minor adjustments are made at the clutch lever.
Slide the dust cover
off
the lever bracket, loosen the
lock nut and turn the adjuster.
Tighten the lock nut securely.
CAUTION
The
mav be damaaed if it is too
far
out,
leaving minimal thread engagement.
If the adjuster is threaded out neat its limit and the
c o r r e c t f r e e p l a y c a n n o t b e o b t a i n e d , t u r n t h e
adjuster all the way in and back out one turn.
Tighten the lock nut and make a major adjustment as
described following page.
