Check the top of the cylinder for with a
straight edge and feeler gauge across the studs and
bolt holes as shown.

RING
Inspect the piston rings for movement by rotating the
rings. The rings should be able t o move in their
grooves without catching.
Push the ring until the outer surface of the piston ring
is nearly flush with the piston and measure the ring-
to-ring groove clearance.
SERVICE LIMITS: Top: 0.14 mm (0.006 in)
Second: 0.12 (0.005 in)
Insert each piston ring into the bottom
of
the cylinder
squarely using the piston.
Measure the ring end gap.
SERVICE LIMITS Top: 0.50 mm

Second: 0.65 mm

Oil (side rail):
0.9 mm

Measure the piston pin O.D. 90" to the piston pin
hole and a t point 15 m m (0.6 in) from bottom of the
piston skirt.
SERVICE LIMIT 84.880 mm (3.3417 in)
Compare this measurement against the maximum
cylinder
measurement and calculate the
to-cylinder clearance (page 8-4).
