MAINTENANCE

BRAKE LOCK CABLE ADJUSTMENT

LOCK NUT

,ADJUSTING BOLT

A lock cable

adjustment may

be required

the

parking brake

does not hold

the rear wheels

securely.

Slide the dust cover

off

the lever bracket.

adjust the clutch lever free play to more than

in), loosen the lock nut a t the clutch lever

and turn the adjuster

all

the way in.

Loosen the lock nut a t the brake arm on the caliper

and turn the adjusting bolt clockwise until bolt resis-

tance

felt. Then turn the adjusting bolt

turn

counterclockwise and tighten the lock nut while hold-
ing the adjusting bolt.

ADJUSTER

Squeeze the clutch lever while pushing the brake lock

pin down until firm resistance is felt and measure the

brake lock cable free play a t the end of the clutch
lever.

FREE PLAY

To adjust the free play, loosen the lock nut and turn
the adjuster a t the brake lock arm on the clutch lever

bracket.

Tighten the lock nut while holding the adjuster.

Adjust the clutch lever free play (page

3-19).

BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT

Adjust the brake pedal to the desired height.

Loosen the lock nut and turn t h e push rod to obtain

the pedal height.

Tighten the lock nut after adjustment has been made.
