Vacuum Line Assembly
Vacuum line assembly inserted in
bulkhead union.
1. Insert new vacuum line assembly into the bulkhead fitting.
3.6.4 Pinch Valve
Inspection
Pinch Valve
1. Operation of the pinch valve should be verified by turning the console on and
switching between the five modes.
a. The pinch valve should be open (allowing fluid to flow through a properly
routed tube) in the “Setup” and “Lavage” modes.
b. The pinch valve should be closed (preventing fluid flow) in the “Biopsy” and
“Manually Aspirate” modes. In the “Test” mode (when the vacuum line is
plugged), the valve will start closed, briefly open, and then close.
2. If the pinch valve fails, check the wire connections. If the connections are okay, then
request assistance to determine if the board or the pinch valve is bad. Replace the
pinch valve if necessary (see SR6607).
