LOSSARY
Altitude - The altitude is based on the level above the WGS-84
ellipsoid. The ellipsoid is very close to sea level but varies
depending on your location on Earth. The value is set by the unit of
measurement you are using (US or metric).
Baud - A unit for measuring data transmission speed, equal to one
unit element per second.
Beacon - Navigation authorities around the world have installed
DGPS radio beacon networks that broadcast free GPS correction
information.
Bearing Angle - Like a compass direction - where 0° is due N, 90°
due E, 180° due S, 270° due W, for instance.
BER - BER (Bit Error Rate) represents the quality of the data from
the receiver. The BER scale is from 0-500 with 0 meaning the best
quality. A rating of 500 can mean:
• no antenna
• lack of communication
• dead receiver.
CAN - Controlled area network. A type of electronic communication
between components.
Cross Track - The actual distance to the left or right of the
selected swath line.
