7: Setting Advanced Features

Loading Firmware

Firmware is the software that controls the Lightbar and controller.

You can load new firmware by copying it onto your multimedia card
(logging version), or directly into the LiteStar II Air via the serial
port (non-logging version).

To load the firmware by copying onto the multimedia card:
1. Turn off LiteStar II Air.
2. Disconnect the GPS receiver cable from the GPS port on the

controller.

3. Remove the multimedia card from the controller.
4. Copy the firmware file to the multimedia card using a personal

computer. Select the appropriate firmware for the controller or
the lightbar:

•

Controller firmware file: LS2CONS.H86

•

Lightbar firmware file: LB*.H86

5. Insert the card into the controller (make sure LiteStar II Air is

still turned OFF).

6. Press

simultaneously while turning

LiteStar II Air ON.

7. Release the buttons when the controller displays the firmware

loading screen.

8. Follow the screen instructions and press

to load the

firmware.

9. WAIT while LiteStar II Air rewrites the firmware.

WARNING!

Do not disrupt power during firmware load.
