• If the combustible materials are not in place at the time
of install the elbow heat shield may be screwed to the
exhaust pipe (see Figure 4.11). Cut the tabs as shown
and bend down. Secure the heat shield to the pipe
maintaining 3 inch to 4 inch between the pipe and shield.
Refer to Cinch Pipe and Termination Cap installation in
-
structions.
• Continue adding vent components, locking each
succeeding component into place.
• Ensure that each succeeding vent component is securely
fitted and locked into the preceding component in the
vent system.
• 90º elbows may be installed and rotated to any point
around the preceding component’s vertical axis. If an
elbow does not end up in a locked position with the
preceding component, attach with a minimum of two (2)
sheet metal screws.

F. Install Support Brackets

General Rules:
• SUBTRACT 3 ft from the total H measurement for each
90º elbow installed horizontally.
• SUBTRACT 1-1/2 ft from the total H measurement for
each 45º elbow installed horizontally.
• A maximum of three 90º elbows (or six 45º elbows) may
be used in any vent configuration. Some elbows may be
installed horizontally. See Figure 4.16.
• Elbows may be placed back to back anywhere in the
system.
•
Any 90º elbow may be replaced with two back to back
45º elbows.
• When penetrating a combustible wall, a wall shield
firestop must be installed.
• When penetrating a combustible ceiling, a ceiling firestop
must be installed.
• Horizontal runs of vent do not require vertical rise;
horizontal runs may be level.
• Horizontal termination cap should have a 1/4 inch
downward slant to allow any moisture in cap to be
released.
